Many of us (me included) has made the new year resolution to lose weight and get healthy. More often than not this resolution is put to the wayside for one reason or another and it is often because there are no incentives for sticking to their weight loss goals.
Many employers and corporations are making it possible for their employees to get healthy through wellness programs which do not receive the amount success that they would like to see. Cafe Well - a social network of corporate provides corporations with important information on healthy living, chronic health conditions and weight loss management.
Cafe Well’s program Race to the Moon takes weight loss management to the next level by allowing employees to track their progress and the amount of steps they take through wireless pedometers. Employees will even be awarded once they have hit certain milestones.
So far in under a month Race to the Moon participants have taken 2.5 million steps a day on average. In order to participate in Race to the Moon you must sign up for Cafe Well and be a member of Health America.
I have always had a hard time trying to maintain my weight primarily because I try to do too much in a short period of time. A challenge that start out small is ideal. If I had my own challenge it would a community of individuals that, like me, try to do too much and I would encourage them to take it all in stride and not try to rush through it. Taking one aspect of their goals and working on it each week would help encourage healthy habits to form and build confidence as they surpass each milestone.
