Support Brave Women Everywhere #cbias

A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.

~Diane Mariechild~

Women everyday are affected by abuse in many different forms from physical, mental or emotional. Many do not speak about the abuse out of guilt, fear or shame and we never know what is going on behind closed doors. We may be walking pass them on the street or they may be a good friend or even a family member or even you reading this very post.

Brave Woman

We MUST do all that we can to help them and we must all realize that not just women are the victims of domestic violence. Men and children can be victims; as human beings we HAVE to protect and support these victims of abuse and show them that they are not alone and that they need to keep the FAITH. This is what #BraveWoman is striving to do in their movement.

Did you know that ONE in FOUR women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime?

There are brave women, just like you, all over the country. They are gathering around you with messages of overcoming life fears, picking ourselves up and trying again.  You are not alone, even when you feel small, unsure and maybe even terrified.

Brave Woman is a grassroots movement to shift personal and public perception of women facing domestic violence situations from a victim mentality to one of courage and strength. The ultimate goal is action to create a world community that

  • Supports difficult decisions involved in creating a new life of safety, healing and independence.
  • Is aware of the presence of domestic violence and its impact on families.

Take The Pledge

Join Brave Women movement and take the pledge and show your support. I have taken the pledge to support those I have known and for those that I have yet to meet.

CLOSED:Cook’ n Recipe Organizer Review and Giveaway

Well the holidays have come to a close and I have a ton of new recipes that I plan on holding on to for next year that were a huge hit in my house. I always find myself with a ton of recipes that I gather around the holidays and not many place to store them aside from on note cards that I end up losing track of. When I was given the opportunity to provide a review of a recipe organizer I jumped on it.

About the Cook’ n Recipe Organizer:

Whether preparing a home-cooked meal for loved ones, printing a family cookbook, making a menu to simplify meal preparations, analyzing nutrition to help you eat healthier, or syncing a shopping list to your mobile device to save time and money at the grocery store, Cook’n puts your favorite recipes at your fingertips to help you creat the things that make mealtime enjoyable.

Once downloaded I found the interface very simple to use and what I love most about this program is that you can look up recipes directly within the program. Capture the recipe and add them to a menu and the categories within your cookbook.

How the program worked for me:

  • The program also provides a grocery shopping assistant, you can make a list of the recipes you have saved and place in a neat list to take with you to the store so that you can make sure you are not missing anything and then have to run the risk of making a mad dash to the store at the last-minute.
  • Cook’ n also provides you with a meal planner and dietitian directly in your home by providing you with nutritional information on the recipes you enter into the system.
  • My most favorite feature in Cook’ n is the cookbook maker which provides you with the ability to print out your most favorite recipes. I plan on using this at my next family gathering to put together the ultimate family cookbook of all the recipes we want to try around the holidays or even at the next cookout.
  • Along with Cook’ n you are given access to their newsletter that provides you with cooking tips and ideas and over 500 recipes…just to get you started. Want to share recipes with you families and friends? Cook’ n makes it easy to share recipes you find via email or even directly onto your blog.

Buy It: Cook’ n Recipe Organizer is available for download or CD from http://www.dvo.com/ for $79.95.

Win It: Enter to win a chance to own Cook’ n Recipe Organizer for FREE. Simply enter in via the Rafflecopter form below. Giveaway ends Jan. 11th @ 12:01 EST.

On A Frozen Treat Hunt At Super Target #cbias

Now when I make my way to the store I love to have the option of buying my little ones and my husband and I a healthier alternative to regular ice cream…Now do not get me wrong I love my peanut butter and vanilla ice cream. Now while the kids are generally not picky when it comes to sweets they do prefer sorbet and frozen yogurt over regular ice cream, so off to where I love to spend my down time..Super Target!

Thankfully earlier in the week I already picked up dinner and snacks I was completely all about dessert today. Generally I do not like to split up the shopping list but this time around it was unavoidable.

That is one of the bad things about dessert it ALL looks really good and somehow it always seems that finding the sorbet or frozen yogurt is like a treasure hunt! So many brands and flavors and it is a guessing came to know what the kids and my hubby will like. I love, love Haagen Dazs sorbet, specifically the Lemon flavored sorbet.

Generally when it comes to frozen dessert I am sorbet and my husband is frozen yogurt and the kids like both so to them it doesn’t matter either way. So I grab a pint of the Haagen Dazs lemon sorbet and the raspberry and vanilla frozen yogurt. I like mixing it up a bit so I decided to give the Lemon Zest sorbet by Ciao Bella a try to see how it is compared to the Haagen Dazs version. They were roughly the same price $3.99 for the Ciao Bella and $3.49 for the Haggen Dazs.
So to make my way out of the store and head home, I was sure the kids were back home by now.  It was close to lunch time and they had a long day of playing and a nice cold snack is something they always enjoy (top: Haagen Dazs Lemon Sorbet, Left: Ciao Bella Lemon Zest Sorbet and right: Haagen Dazs Vanilla Raspberry Frozen Yogurt).

Finally able to sit myself and the kids down for our satisfying, delicious and not to mention healthy afternoon snack. My son wanted the frozen yogurt and baby girl loves lemon sorbet…just like her mama ;) I think they enjoyed it:

I didn’t see many savings for the Haagen Dazs today at the store, usually I check the newspaper in the morning for any deals or coupons but I didn’t see any. I always love that Super Target has a huge selection of frozen desserts and I rarely find anything out of stock which is nice because then I only have one stop to make. View my entire shopping trip in my Google+ Album.
